Our Commitment

Aelira is an accessibility compliance platform. We believe the web should be usable by everyone, and we hold ourselves to the same standards we help our customers meet.

We are committed to ensuring that our website and platform are accessible to people with disabilities, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers, and alternative input devices.

Conformance Target

We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines are published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and define requirements for making web content more accessible.

While we strive for full conformance, we recognise that some areas may not yet fully meet every criterion. We are actively working to identify and address any gaps.

What We Do

• Use semantic HTML throughout the site for proper document structure
• Provide text alternatives for non-text content, including images and icons
• Ensure sufficient colour contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for body text)
• Support keyboard navigation for all interactive elements
• Include a skip-to-content link for keyboard users
• Respect user preferences for reduced motion
• Ensure forms have associated labels and clear error messages
• Support both light and dark colour modes

Known Limitations

We are aware of the following areas where accessibility can be improved:

• Some third-party embedded content (analytics, cookie consent) may not be fully accessible
• Older PDF reports generated before our accessibility updates may lack proper tagging
• Some interactive data visualisations in the dashboard are being updated with ARIA live regions

We are actively working to resolve these issues.

Testing

We test our website using a combination of:

• Automated scanning with axe-core (the same engine we provide to our customers)
• Manual keyboard navigation testing across all pages
• Screen reader testing with VoiceOver (macOS) and NVDA (Windows)
• Colour contrast verification using WCAG 2.1 AA criteria
• Lighthouse accessibility audits as part of our build process

Third-Party Audits

We plan to engage an independent accessibility auditor for a formal WCAG 2.1 AA conformance assessment in 2026. The results and any Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) documentation will be published on this page once available.
